World Environment Day, 2023

The Department of Environmental Biology and Wildlife Sciences in association with Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS) celebrated World Environment Day, 2023 on 5^th June 2023 at Room No. 311, MCB Building, Cotton University. The event was celebrated for two days i.e 2^nd and 5^th of June 2023, wherein students from four Government schools of Guwahati were invited for participation. The main aim of the event was to raise awareness among young students regarding the current trends of the major environmental issues, especially the plastic pollution that has been the focus and the theme of this year’s Environment Day. The first day of the event was marked by on “On-Spot essay Competition” among students of groups- class 8^th to 10^th and class 11^th to 12^th. The topic of the essay was “Solution to Plastic Pollution”. Students from Gopal Boro Girls Higher Secondary School, Cotton Collegiate Government Higher Secondary School, Bengali Higher Secondary School, Kamrup Academy Higher Secondary School, Guwahati, Assam, participated in the competition.
